Today, my friends, is the first day of school in Philadelphia!
I have nothing thrilling or poetic to say, because my siblings down in Mississippi have been in school for a month already. (Or rather, if their schools had power, they would have been in school for a month so far.) I’ve already adjusted to the idea of school happening.

But it’s still quite a mindfuck to be heading home (I work nights) on a rush hour bus along Market St. to see a 5 year old in his uniform (complete with tie) hop onto a bus with his 8 year old brother, swipe a pass, and take a seat like it’s nothing. No sign of parents or older siblings anywhere, either.

I predict mass chaos on SEPTA busses around 3p today but said chaos can also start around 2.30p. I also predict many weepy parents at businesses today as their angels go to school to terrorize meet their teachers for the very first time.

Awwwwwwwww crap.
Welcome back, my friend school.
