Quidditch at Penn

I noticed a line of blue cones along the grass next to Woodland Walk near 34th and Walnut today and assumed it was some kind of summer athletic camp. Then I noticed the three distinctive tall hoops. “No. ” I thought. “It couldn’t be.” But it is, there’s no mistaking the setup: Quidditch. She’s setting up a quidditch pitch.

Yes, at some point today ardent Harry Potter fans will take to brooms and attempt to recreate the series’ beloved sport. I poked around online to find more information on the match, to no avail. I did manage to find an evening event, Potteradelphia’s Enlightening 2007 PremiereFest. I’m assuming it’s related as it’s scheduled to take place about a block away from the quidditch site.

Happy Pottering to those involved!

Thanks for the post, but it’s not really our event! We’re just helping publicize it (and yes, I will be at PremiereFest tonight!).

Enlightening 2007 is a Harry Potter family camp run by Bonding Over Books and taking place all weekend at U of P. It’s the first type of convention specifically for families, with classes and tracks for kids, teens, adults, and the entire family.

Victoria from Bonding Over Books is a lovely person, and she and her team put a ton of work into making this event awesome.
