Flyers Add Players, Prepare for Draft

This past Monday the Flyers upgraded their lineup by acquiring forward Scott Hartnell and defenseman Kimmo Timonen. Timonen will lead a defense core which has been shaky over the last few years while Hartnell will most likely play on the top line with Simon Gagne. Now if only the Flyers could get a first line center.

In other Flyers news the team may be shopping young defenseman Joni Pitkanen around. Last season, his third in the league, Pitkanen posted a -25 in the +/- stats but he did lead the team in assists. I think trading him is a hasty move, the kid is still young and there is a possibility for a turn around there but the Flyers may feel they can bolster the line-up even more by trading him.

And finally the NHL draft begins tomorrow, where the Flyers will have the #2 overall pick. General consensus is that this years draft is not anywhere as good as previous drafts but there are a couple standouts and the Flyers should be able to get one of them.
