News about Tut

I attended a press briefing this morning. The real news at the briefing, of course, was the official start of ticket sales for next year’s King Tut exhibit. Since a number of tickets have been set aside for some of the city’s most impoverished schools, the first set of tickets distributed today were given to the most adorable second graders, wearing King Tut T-shirts and headdresses.*

That was the real news.

The news for me?

I got to stand only a few feet away from newsanchor Matt O’Donnell.

Frequent readers might remember a couple posts from May that illuminate why that was such a big deal for me. In fact, when a colleague asked me “who that tall guy was standing by the cameraman,” I flippantly replied, “that’s my TV boyfriend.”**

But when all was said and done, I was too shy to walk up and tell newsanchor Matt that I’m a fan. Instead, I let him go about the business of reporting without interruption, and I went back up to my desk to prepare for some afternoon meetings (and take a quick half-hour for lunch and blogging).

* I will do my best to track down a photo of said headdresses. Seriously cute. If nothing else, I’ve heard a rumour that these are (will be?) on sale at the SciStore, and if that’s true, you’ll get to see too many photos of my bespectacled face underneath the black and gold striping. ‘Cos, seriously. Want one.

** Just kidding!! ‘Cos, seriously, when it comes to tall, good-looking brunettes named Matt? Don’t want one so much as already have one

You funny. I generally don’t like men too look so wholesome, but I am a fan of starting my mornings with the handsome and charming Mr. O’Donnell.

I agree! (About newsanchor Matt, not my comic prowess)

I’m also waiting for a “Cease and Desist” letter from his lawyers any day now….though I’m trying very hard to keep on the better side of that fine line between “running joke” and “obsessed stalker”
