I had received the tickets from Pro Wrestling Illustrated, where I am a regular contributor. As it turns out, the tickets were magnificent! We were only three rows back from the ring and right next to the ramp where the wrestlers come out. Hopefully Jay will be able to get me the link to the pictures and video he took sometime today. Stay tuned for more…

NEC developed of a new system for automatically creating multimedia blogs. And it’s zany as hell. The new system has been developed on NEC’s prototype robot PaPeRo, and is initialized when a user begins a conversation with PaPeRo about the events of their day, which the system then records and analyzes. Following this, PaPeRo searches for suitable multi-media contents on the internet, including images, illustrations and music, which are automatically uploaded and edited along with the video recording on the user’s blog. This new system facilitates ease of multi-media-rich blog creation.

The novel system has been realized by integrating (1) large-vocabulary, continuous speech recognition technology, which converts the speech content of the video message into text and extracts important keywords, and (2) natural language, text retrieval technology, which enables searching of contents on the internet.

I don’t know about my fellow MetBloggers, but one of these could definitely solve a lot of my problems!

Lately I’ve been on the biggest kick of googling old friends. It seems like every day I can dig up some new information on somebody I’ve lost touch with years before. Sometimes even contact information. I hope I’m not coming off as too stalker-ish. Old college roommates, old fraternity brothers, friends from high school, even gradeschool. Nobody is safe from my natural curiosity. it’s so pathetic that sometimes I’ll curl up on a lonely night with an old yearbook and just punch in name after name after name, seeing what I can come up with.

Who’s playing basketball in Europe? Who is married? Who is making 5X as much money as me? It’s all there for the viewing pleasure. Pair it with myspace for a truely unique experience in searching for long-losts.

I still haven’t decided if all this is good or bad. I mean, was it better back in the day when losing touch with somebody meant you might never truly know? When you might never truly see that person again, despite the fact that they have and continue to live within three minutes from where you are right now?!?

There are some people I’d never want to find me, but if they ever punch my name in google, it’d be pretty damn difficult for them not to read all about my life, my career, and the most intimate of thoughts I can share with the Metblog community.

I love Google. The only question is … should I?

Be on the lookout for Storm worm, which allows PCs to be taken over by malicious hackers. It is being spread via blogs. The worm is embedded in postings from users’ PCs that have been infected. It plants links to malicious web sites that contain the worm, which if visited, download the worm to the visitor’s system. The worm is polymorphic, which means that it changes signature code with each download, making it difficult to prevent infection.

My computer has Kapersky antivirus, but I reccommend whatever you use that you regularly update its virus definititions and regularly scan your systems, especially given how most of you are blog trollers.

I was listening to the radio this morning on my way in to work, and they just happened to have upcoming mayoral candidate Milton Street on in an interview. And I have to tell you that at first I was very impressed. He seemed to be making a lot of sense and I was thinking maybe…just maybe he’s actually for real.

Then he started going on about the black community and how most murders are committed by blacks and how most taxes are paid by whites. He then went on to say that black people need to stop blaming white people for the problems they are having in their communities and they need to realize that the whites are the only ones paying to improve their communities. I don’t have any sort of a statistic to back up what he’s saying. I do think he uses too many phrases involving the words “most” or “all.”

I’m not calling him a racist because I sort of see what he was trying to get at, but I’m concerned that if Milton Street is elected mayor we will only see a broadening of any racial divide that is in the city. Call me naive, but I’m not making the distinction when I walk down the street, and I really don’t think most people I run into downtown do either.

I’m very sick of everything coming down to race. I don’t think that we need to ignore race but I don’t think that everything in life has to come down to race. And – until I think everyone can learn to make that distinction – I don’t see any of these problems going away.

In the spirit of this grandiose anniversary, I plan to unveil the next subject for my Metblog interview. I realize many of you are probably unfamiliar with the rules, so here goes:

1.) I will announce the name of my next interview on the first of the month. Because there are only 30 days in February I am pushing that date up to tomorrow.

2.) I will have 30 days to get in touch with this local or national celebrity for an interview posted on this very blog. If I don’t get the interview then I lose. I’m not sure what happens when I lose. It’s never happened yet.

3.) Periodic updates will be made available here at the Philly Metblog site.
See you all tomorrow.

If you are down the Art Museum way today, make sure you take a swing by the Rocky Statue near the base of the steps. The folks at 610 WIP sportstalk radio equipped the ultimate underdog with the jersey of Philly’s current underdog story: Jeff Garcia. And from what I hear, the stunt was not approved and there is a good chance it will come off.

I don’t have a picture, but if anyone can get me one, that would be really cool. I won’t be able to get down there until tonight to see it (if it’s still there). If you ask me though, I say we forego putting the jersey on William Penn this year and just leave it on Rocky. It seems like we torment Billly with our high skyscrapers and donning him in a local jersey tends to just anger him.

Let’s make everybody happy and just stick with Rocky this year.
It suits the Eagles (and the Jeff Garcia story) much better anyway.

For the last two months, I’ve been planning this awesome ski weekend at Jack Frost/Big Boulder. It was going to be great. Me, my girl, and a couple of my closest friends for three days of hitting the slopes. And now, it’s all falling apart before my very eyes.

It started not too long after I reserved the cabin. The first couple who were supposed to come told me they were not interested. They had given me no money. The second couple soon followed suit. Fortunately, they HAD given me money. So now I’m faced with a situation where I was excited about going skiing with a large group of friends, and now I am stuck with a large six-person townhouse to share with only my girlfriend.

I know…Score? Right?

Wrong. Every damn time I try to get excited about something it blows up in my face. I am soooo sick and tired of never being able to get pumped for something because – in the end – nothing seems to ever work out the way I’d hoped. Sure, it’ll be a nice romantic weekend still. Albeit, a romantic weekend that cost me three times more than I’d planned. Instead of a bedroom with my girlfriend I now have two bedrooms and a sofa bed downstairs to share with her.

Then, she told me she probably won’t even want to go skiing on Saturday or Sunday. Hmm…

I guess I should try to think about the Eagles instead. After all, it’s not like there’s a chance they could ever let me down, right?

Right?

E-mail me if you want to go skiing for a weekend with a stranger.

It’s another election day, and I’m so excited I could just … blah! I’m so fed up with the entire process. Pretending our vote matters. Faking that one politician is – indeed – different than another. Imagining his/her values might be different. The truth is that the voting process sucks. I’m convinced it does nothing little than to provide a list for potential jurors.

Blah.

At least the king of Bensalem isn’t running this year. I’ve had enough calls from George Bush and Ed Rendell to make me sick. They never even call me when I’m home.

Do you know that the other day some politician’s office called me to see how I felt about violence against women? Imagine that. I wanted to tell them I loved it, just to see…

Just to see if they even cared.

That’s how I know the whole bogus process is nothing but a waste of time. And I’m sick of it.

I’m not staying up tonight to see who won. I could care less whether it’s the Steelers’ player or the Eagles’ commentator. Politics means nothing because politics are irrelevant to how we live our lives.

I really could care less anymore. And somehow I suspect the politicians flooding my house with calls every day feel the same.
