Last night a gunman walked into the AMC movie theater at Franklin Mills mall and opened fire. According the NBC 10, no one was injured. The commotion apparently spilled out into the parking lot. Police found a weapon outside the movie theater in the bushes. So, when all you really want is to enjoy a move and some popcorn, you may be disturbed by a gunman who decides he wants to start shooting at the snack counter. Well, that’s another movie theater that I won’t be visiting any time soon.

There were police cars everywhere and all I could think was I’m going to see this on the news tonight. I ride that bus all the time to and from center city. We definately need to be more creative in our approach to curb crime in this city. “The proof is in the puddin,” as my mother would say.

She is sixteen years old and I have realized for the first time in a long time that it is fun to hang out with family. Anyway, just for fun she called this number and handed me the phone. It’s called the rejection hotline. So if you someone asks you for your phone number and you don’t want to be rude at that moment you can give them the number. You have to check this out. Childish, I know but so funny!! Here is the number 215-618-1505…

I recently had the opportunity to sit down with a couple of other concerned people in the community and hear what Nutter had to say about the city. Some of the major problems in this city are crime and the use of illegal guns. One of the proposed ways to deal with these issues was called the “stop and frisk”. It is said that in New York, the “stop and frisk” helped decrease crime. Nutter feels that this same tactic will most likely work in Philadelphia. In using this method, police officers will be able to stop anyone who they deem suspicious and pat them down. While many community members fear that this tactic will be used more as a threat to the communtiy than as an assest, I feel that it may be just what we need to cut the crime rate and make Philadelphia a safer place to live.

I told the representative that I had been offered a better package with Direct TV and no matter how crappy their services were, I was willing to make the sacrifice. So I was offered a rate of $85 dollars a month including DSL internet and two digital boxes with the HBO package. Plus, he knocked off all those hidden charges and the fifty bucks extra. How you like me now!!!
Note to ALL: Always ask for a better price. It’s not going to be offered unless you do so!

I just received my new cable bill for the month. Included was a nice surprise; fifty dollars extra tacked on to my bill. Apparently Comcast the new cable conglomerate in Philadelphia does not offer student packages as Time Warner did. Now, this is not a real problem but I should have received a notification of the changes. So I’m fuming right now because I had no notice and I refuse to pay that kind of money for some damn cable. I can’t wait until tomorrow morning so I can give Comcast a piece of my mind. I was happy when I moved out of the area that was served by Comcast. They cost entirely too much. Now they have the whole city on lock. I checked with friends and family and from what I gather everyone’s bill has gone up at least twenty dollars. I sure do miss Time Warner.
