Farewell Sarcasmo

They Might Be Giants Dinner

Star C. Foster, local writer, blogger and lovely human being, died this morning of a pulmonary embolism.

I first met Star at a blogger meet up at Fergie’s Pub, about a year ago. I was taken by her energy and friendliness from the first moment. I often ran into her in the neighborhood, walking home from work or out on a Saturday afternoon. We would always stop and chat for a few minutes before heading on our way. I looked forward to these random encounters. I can’t believe that it’ll never happen again.

Last May, a bunch of us went to see They Might Be Giants at the TLA, and met for dinner beforehand at The Latest Dish. I can see Star in my mind, sitting at the table, laughing and telling stories about the squirrels in her ceiling. I am without words to sufficiently describe the sadness and shock I feel that she is gone, and that I’ll never have the opportunity to laugh with her again.

That was a fun evening. It is hard to believe that she won’t be telling those stories anymore.

That was the only night I spent time with her but I kept hoping to see her again because I liked her so much.
