Can we get the 64 suckiest things about Philadelphia?

The LA Metblog has a great idea that we are totally stealing, because it’s just that awesome:

A drop-down drag-out no-holds-barred fight to the finish to come up with the defining thing that is the worst in Philadelphia.

We’ll start with the top 64 things that we hate about the city, and in tournament style, narrow it down until we come up with number one. The comments are open to anything and everything you want to propose, from the smell at the 11th Street El station to the South Street onramp to the Schuylkill Expressway. The metblog authors will weed through the entries and come up the 64 best worst things to include in the tourney.

So what is it, Philadelphia? What do you hate about the city?

(Please remember that with the new Metblogs you need to register to post comments!)

I’ll kick things off with the two items I mentioned in my post above:

    1. the smell at the 11th Street El station
    2. the South Street onramp to the Schuylkill Expressway

and let’s add a few others:

    3. the driving culture–it’s a very walkable city! Now walk!
    4. stores downtown closing at 6pm or earlier
    5. the Gap-italization of South Street

    1. The smell at any El station.
    2. SEPTA
    3. The crime
    4. The utter carelessness of the employees behind the deli at the 38th & Spruce St. WaWa who can’t make a decent sandwich to save their lives. Really, is it that hard?!
    5. The lack of observation decks to take photos from in a majority of large buildings in the city.
    6. Trash all over the place.

That’s all for now, I suppose.

    1. the holy trinity of philly trash:
    Artic Splash
    Chumpies/Homegirls
    Lil’ Hugs

    2. The El station attendants whose only task is to take your two dollars and press a button. no change, no tokens, no pass sales, and forget about getting questions answered.

    3. The SEPTA motto: "We’re Getting There". Awesome, good job guys, no promises or anything, just the vague notion of potential progress.

    1. Kids who ride quads down the street of West Philly.
    2. People who pass buses and cars in the opposing lane of traffic at 60 MPH down various main avenues through residential areas in University City.
    3. People that drive through red lights.
