Philadelphia–A Kind of Madrid?
A couple days ago, I stumbled across a blog called Oh Joy while exploring someone else’s blog roll. I discovered that Joy lives in Philly and among several of the things she writes about, she makes a point to write about “cool finds in Philadelphia.” One of her recent cool finds was an article in the recent issue of Elle Decor about Philadelphia. In all honesty, it’s not much different from the other articles about our city, but I find it interesting that a decorating magazine is writing about Philly these days.
Joy had scanned the article and mentioned in her post that if anyone wanted the PDF, she’d be happy to email it to them. I sent her a brief email, saying that I’d like it, and within minutes (maybe about 20) it had arrived. I think my favorite moment in the article is when it describes Philadelphia as “a kind of Madrid on the Delaware.” It also mentions the New York Times “Sixth Borough” article from last summer, and tries to stay away from that kind of New York comparison.
If you’d like to see the full article, I’ll make the same offer that Joy did. Leave a comment down below with your email address and I’ll send the file on to you.
