Phillies only 2 games behind the 1st place Mets

Don’t look now Greater Philadelphia, but the resurgent Phillies are now tied for 2nd in the NL East and only 2 games behind the stumblin’ and bumblin’ Mets. The Phils’ are riding high after a 3 game sweep of Jim Thome and the White Sox, but a tougher foe comes to Citizens Bank Park this week, the defending AL Champs, Detroit Tigers. Tigers pitcher, Justin Verlander, faces the Phils on Sunday, one start removed from tossing his first career no-hitter when he was chuckin’ fast balls that reached speeds over a 100 miles per hour. Yet with the Mets facing the Yankees this weekend and the Braves playing the Twins, this weekend poses an opportunity so red hot that you’d think Anthony Jr. was behind it…sorry, it’s been four days now and I still can’t stop thinking about the Sopranos.

The weather is supposed to turn and some good baseball is on deck. Sounds like a good weekend.

ALBUM OF THE WEEK: “Welcome to Jamrock!” Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley
GIFT IDEA OF THE WEEK: an aggresive mini-horse that I’m afraid of.
