Farmer’s Market Season

It’s that time of year when farmer’s market stands start popping up on the edge of every city park. Today I discovered one at Spruce and 25th Street – a new one this year, and their second week of being open. There were only five tents – a big vegetable one, a small vegetable one, a chocolate one, and two others which weren’t selling things I was interested in tonight so I’ve already forgotten what they had (oops!).

At the small vegetable tent, I bought a half-pint of strawberries for $2.50 (get them now, they tell me that the rains are going to cut short the strawberry season), half a pound of asparagus for $1.50, a bag of mixed lettuce for $2. Then, back at the bigger vegetable tent I picked up three apple-cider donuts for $2.

They’re open until 7 so you still have time to swing by there tonight, or catch them any Wednesday for the rest of the summer.
