It’s true, they are having a camera swap. But they are also having the grand opening of their new gallery and darkroom space this weekend on Friday night and Saturday afternoon. Yes, I know, she already told you that too, but this is the part that has me all excited.
Friday night includes a tour of the new gallery space, darkrooms, and rental studio space and a meet and greet with the instructors and local photographer and educator Susan Arthur-Whitson. You can also enter to win $100 in darkroom time, which is one of the main reasons I so want to go on Friday night. (But unfortunately, I don’t think I will be able to make it.)
Fortunately, there is still lots to do on Saturday. Starting at noon, you can tour the gallery space, darkrooms, and rental studio space and meet the staff and instructors. From 2-3 is the camera swap ($5 to participate). (Hey, anyone have a Canon EF 50mm they wish to sell? If so, I’m your girl.) Then from 3-4 they will be giving free demonstrations – I’m not sure what of but they say they’ll walk us through the darkroom and discuss their classes. And then, the best part is that from 4 – 8 they will be offering free two hour blocks of darkroom time (assuming you already know how to use the darkroom, of course).
I don’t think I’ll make the Friday night opening, but I will definitely be there on Saturday.
