Is it a pint glass? Or campaign swag?

Linda Carpenter

Sitting outside at the Sidecar Bar last night, I ordered a beer and was sort of surprised when it came out in the glass above. I’d never seen pint glasses used as campaign promotion before. I asked the server the story behind it, and she said that Linda Carpenter is married to the owner of Yards Brewing which is how she got her name on the glasses.

I didn’t pay close attention to the primary winners in the Common Pleas race, so I looked up results in Judge Carpenter’s race tonight. It appears she got the highest percentage of votes in her race, in a pretty packed field. As an added bonus, her campaign will live on indefinitely, as long as those pint glasses last (does anyone know, were they at other bars in town?).

I dunno but DAMN I wish I were married to—wait strike that thought.

That’s a great Marketing campaign. Marc Silver should figure out how to get his name on pint glasses around town!

Actually, I think its pretty TACKY- esp if its costing me $5 +tip for the beer! For that amount, I want a pint glass with attractive logo or graphics, NOT a HUGE. plain ad! It would incline me NOT to vote for the person or thing.

It’s up to the bar getting the free glasses from the beer company - i.e. Yard’s. You don’t like it go to another bar or don’t drink and don’t vote for her while you are at it. All your choice. She had the opportunity and took it, and I think it is actually creative. Better than being crooked. Hey, she figures she’ll reach PLENTY of people THAT way since enough DON’T read or pay attention to important things these days so why not.
Who cares what the hell is ON the damned glass anyway? How about what is IN it?
And BTW YARDS is great beer!
