Medeski, Martin and Wood

About a month ago I went down to Wilmington, DE to see the Indigo Girls play at the Grand Opera House. Despite the fact that we had a very hard time finding a place to have dinner, the show was terrific and I really loved the space. There didn’t seem to many bad seats in the house (and our seats were awesome) and it’s a fairly small venue, which leaves you feeling awfully close to the performers.

They have big flat screens hanging on either side of the stage, and while you wait for the show to start they play the listings of upcoming shows. When I was there, I noticed that Medeski, Martin and Wood were coming soon, which tickled my interest.

Well, soon is now this Saturday and apparently the show hasn’t sold out. There are tickets available on this week’s edition of the Funsaver, which brings the ticket price down to a manageable $13.50-16.00. Medeski, Martin & Wood play a sort of groove jazz which I find really appealing (and often play when I’m writing and need something without lyrics). If you like that sort of thing, you should ramble on over to the Funsaver page and get yourself some tickets. Just make sure to have dinner in Philly.
