tut, tut…

I would like to recommend two historical fiction books which are not only good reads but an easy introduction to the Egyptian period of Tut and his family. ” God Against the Gods”, Allen Drury, 1976, and it’s companion piece, “Return To Thebes”, Allen Drury, 1977. We read these before attending the exhibit at the Franklin Institute and found them helpful in understanding the period and, although fictionally, personalizing the characters.
Even if you have already attended the exhibit, I believe you would enjoy these stories.

The two books I read in preparation for the King’s arrival were Howard Carter’s own memoir about the tomb’s discovery (a nice cheapo Dover reprint) and Nichloas Reeve’s The Complete Tutankhamun (an utterly GAWGEOUS paperback that won my admiration for its design and layout as much as for its content).
