Keep it in the family.

Last week at our Passover seder the subject of the mayoral race came up. Someone at the table, I think it was my fiancé said something along the lines of “Oh, they’re all corrupt.” I’m inclined to agree. I find my first Philadelphia mayoral race fascinating, are there always such interesting characters involved? I try to keep up on who stands where on what issues, but also on the dirt. The latest bit I caught today is about Brady and his family.

Brady’s wife is paid $100,000 a year by a politically connected firm that delivers official notices of lawsuits. In eight years, the city has not bid out the contract.

His son works for the Pennsylvania Turnpike, his daughter for the state lottery. His brother is a Municipal Court judge.

Brady’s explanation? “It’s a small town.” Small town? 1,517,550+ people is a small town? Right. Oh, and in case you were wondering, yes, Milty is still in the game.
