Photo of the Day: Cellblock 7

I am home sick today so I don’t have much energy to blog, but fortunately Anjan posted this information with photo, so instead of commenting on the photo (except to note that the tones and textures are fantastic) I’ll pass what he wrote along to all of you.

“opened in 1829, it is considered the world’s first true penitentiary. solitary confinement was used as a form of rehabilitation, to move inmates towards spiritual reflection and transformation. tonight is the anniversary of the 1945 escape when klinedinst completed an escape tunnel. the next morning at 6 am,12 inmates, including willie sutton, took the tunnel to escape. they got outside the wall, but most were apprehended within minutes of their freedom.”
