Can I get an amen!

As part of the Kimmel’s Roots of Jazz series, Wycliffe Gordon performed New Orleans gospel music last night. Fun stuff… I have to say that I was a little worried that it would have its preachy moments, but me of little faith. Last night was about gospel music, not gospel music.

Wycliffe started with a sweet, sweet rendition of the Lord’s Prayer on trombone, and they ended the show with “When the Saints Go Marching In”.

Here’s a name to look for: Yvette _____. Yvette came on about halfway through the first set and sang with the band on most sets through the end. I wish I had voice training so that I could describe it to you.
