Photos of the Day: Philadelphia Flower Show

I have unfortunately not yet found the time to go to the Philadelphia Flower Show myself, but I turned to our Flickr group and have been finding a few photos of the event popping up there.

This one, by Moocat, is so lovely. (She recently got a new dSLR and check out the lovely background blur she’s now able to achieve.)

Moocat also took a shot of one of the themed exhibits – this year’s theme is “Legends of Ireland”.

There is still time to visit this show – it runs through March 11th. Tickets are a little pricey ($24 on Fri and $26 this Sat and Sun, student tickets are $15), but the money goes to support the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society which runs the Philadelphia Green Program that supports the development and care of community gardens, neighborhood parks and high-profile public green spaces in Philadelphia.

Please add your Philadelphia photos to the Metroblogging Philadelphia Flickr group. Readers’ photos will be featured here on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

these are beautiful. i went to the flower show twice, and the lighting in there is terrible – forget getting a decent shot with a point and shoot camera. tickets are cheaper if you buy them in market east station (below the convention center – no need to go outside). in fact, i believe i saved $7 per ticket. finally, go on a weekday after 4 pm! it’s so much emptier. the flowers are not as fresh come monday, but it’s worth it to not be overrun with crowds.
