Reunited with the Franklin Institute

Until today, it had been nearly twenty years since I had visited the Franklin Institute. I drive by the Institute all the time, and often have stopped to stretch on the steps as I head out for a run, but the last time I was there was the summer when I was 8 years old. In those days there was half of an airplane body out back of the museum, complete with mannequins standing in for passengers and the giant heart had a distinctive plastic-y smell.

Today I was there for the King Tut exhibit, which was absolutely fantastic. Since I went during the day, I did have to contend with the wild hordes of school kids, but it was worth it. I learned much about the young king and his family, and loved the audio tour (which was narrated by the very smooth Omar Sharif). If you haven’t gotten your tickets yet, I would definitely recommend it. The exhibit will be here until September, but with the way time flies these days, September with be here in about five minutes.
