Red Door

Continuing with my red door theme (in anticipation of Valentine’s Day?), here is a brilliant coat of red paint on a door just across the street from the red doors of the Trinity Church I posted on Monday.

Red Door

I have read that painting church doors red has to do with either warding off evil spirits or symbolizing Christ’s blood, and that painting residential doors red indicates that the mortgage has been paid off. Something like that. I really haven’t found a good source to link to, so if anyone knows the “real” story behind red doors, please feel free to share!
