Philly’s Favorite Dogs

The American Kennel Club recently released their list of the top ten most popular dogs in the country, as well lists of most popular dogs by city. Let’s take a little look at how Philadelphia measures up to the rest of the country.

1. Philadelphia and the rest of the country love the Labrador Retriever.
2. Around here we like us some Boxers, while the rest of the country prefers Yorkshire Terriers. Could it have anything to do with Rocky?
3. German Shephards are our favorites and yours!
4. Bring on the Yorkshire Terriers! Everyone else loves the Golden Retriever fourth best.
5. I don’t see many Rottweilers in Center City, but they are our fifth fav. The Beagle ranks fifth across the rest of the country.
6. We are all about the Bulldog in the sixth position, although I don’t know anyone who owns one. Dachshunds are the favorite nationwide.
7. I see Pugs all the time (they are city-sized dogs) and they occupy the seventh position, although there was a note, saying they actually tied for sixth place. Finally we see the Boxer for the rest of the country.
8. Shih Tzu hold the eighth place in our hearts but Poodles are popular elsewhere.
9. Golden Retriever finally makes the list for Philly, while it’s the Shih Tzu everywhere else.
10. The Poodle squeaks onto the Philly list in the ten spot, while the Miniature Schnauzer is the last big winner for the country.
