Fans at the Grocery Store

So I’m at the grocery store, dressed in my Eagles fleece, looking for diet Sprite and exchanging nods with people in Eagles jerseys. Twice, over the PA, I hear the Eagles fight song. The second time, someone came on and said, “You know you’re only supposed to play that after touchdowns.” That muzak started up again, then someone else replied, “That’s just an old Giants’ wives’ tale.”

On the way out I saw someone wearing a Saints jersey. I gave him a nod, too, and said, “Good luck.” He smiled and said, “You too.”

Later I was on the phone with Trader Joe’s to see if they had some things I forgot to buy. The manager said that he did, and I said, “Great, I’ll be there to pick it up at halftime.”

“What’s the score?” [of the Colts-Ravens game]

“6-3. Nobody can do anything inside the Red Zone.”

“Thanks. Give me an update when you get here.”

“[LOL], will do.”
