Where are you playing??

So I do this thing every once in a while where I post an ad on Craigslist asking bands, if they got a show coming up, to tell me about it. I ask for them to tell me about their show, and then ask for a few more details, including band name, their website, etc. Unessential things compared to the fact that they have a gig.

So invariably I get the idiots who can’t seem to read. What do they do? They tell me their band name, their music style, their website. Do they tell me about the show? NO they do not! Why? I don’t know!

Many guys are pretty smart with little setup. Anthony and Tula Storm from the Misteriosos. Jon Mernyk of the Jon Mernyk Trio. Debbie Chamberlain. Larry Saklad, Dan Malloy, the list could go on. They give me the info I need. They tell me when their next gig is.

Some fools, like the guys of Nobody Yet* , who claim to sound like Tenacious D (“the best band in the world”) just tell me about them and leave no info about their next show. Well how am I supposed to blog about your next gig if you don’t tell me about your next gig?

Maybe they’re just really dense. Or foreigners who don’t know how to read English. Whatever the case may be, I still await the information on your next gig, because I’d love to go to your show, and I’d love to tell all the readers about your show, too.

Oh, wait. Scratch that. thanks Joe for getting back to me so quickly on that much needed info. I take back everything I said about you.

* Please note that Nobody Yet are cool dudes who know what’s up and aren’t dense foreigners. However, there have been a plethora of other bands and musicians who had told me about them but nothing about their upcoming gigs, and being the jerk that I am, I deleted their e-mails and went on to plug the bands that did give me info about their upcoming gigs, like Nobody Yet.

Folk music/singer songwriter on a palette of traditional bluegrass instrumentation w/ songs that are far from traditional. Jazz influenced chords & harmonies take you on twists and turns as the band members burn you with their solo’s and vocal harmonies.
