Mohammed Omer, a Palestinian journalist/photographer in his early 20’s who lives in Rafah fugee camp in the Gaza Strip, is giving a talk in Philadelphia on Tuesday. I saw his talk in Washington DC on C-SPAN. His story is pretty dramatic, as he has had his home bulldozed and unarmed family killed by the IDF. Even so, his speech seems as it’s from a detached bystander instead of someone who’s emotionally involved. His pictures are such that you can form your own opinions. His politics are anti-war — he spoke against terrorist violence in Israel also and tried to get a visa to document that violence as well.
His talk will be at the Friend’s Center at 1501 Cherry Street on Tuesday. I’m not sure what time, so I’d call first — their number is (215) 241-7000.
