Photo of the Day: Two Faced

Today’s photo of the day is a piece of Philadelphia’s wonderful murals, by a new contributor to the Metroblogging Philadelphia Flickr group, Gwynedd.

I love the saturated colors and high contrast in this photo, as well as the almost uncomfortable framing with the corner of the building occupying the center of the frame and making the photo more about the decaying building than just the mural itself.

Relatedly, if you love photographing Philly’s murals, Dragonballyee mentions today that the Mural Arts Program is taking submissions of photographed murals (and will pay, though they don’t say how much). Info here!

Please add your Philadelphia photos to the Metroblogging Philadelphia Flickr group. Readers’ photos will be featured here on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

I promise there’s nothing shady about not saying how much we’ll pay… I just don’t have a budget just yet. It won’t be rent for the month, but it won’t be a total insult either… hopefully. I guess it depends how easily you’re insulted.

Either way, I’ll let you know before you go and get something printed.

Oh, I certainly didn’t mean to imply there’s anything shady going on with payment or that people shouldn’t submit for fear of being insulted by a tiny payment! Just that you guys haven’t determined how much you’re paying. :)

I have to say that I personally don’t have any murals to submit, but I’ll see what I can do about that!
