Fun with Robots

I have just spent the last day-and-a-half stuffing goodie bags for the annual Franklin Family Funfest, which occurs this Friday, October 20th, from 5:30 to 8:30. This year’s theme is robots, and that will be carried out from the robot-costumed Mummers greeting guests on the big front steps to the robotics demos (including robot basketball, whatever that is) going on inside the museum.

Other scheduled activities will riff on the natural history vibe I posted about earlier: a reptilian petting zoo will be installed in Darwin, and the creator of Animal Grossology, Sylvia Branzei, will be onsite to discuss her work. And of course, there’s the traditional family festival features like face painting, goodie bags (my weary fingers can tell the tale), and tons and tons of food.

Tickets are available here. If you attend, look for me: I’ll be the bespectacled one in the event staff T-shirt.
