Go Fish

This morning, while walkikng the dog, I spotted two men carting their fishing gear back from the Locust Street end of the Schuylkill Banks path.

It got me thinking. I’ve seen fishermen on the banks of the river for years, sitting on the concrete embankments. I’ve never known if these folks catch anything, if any fish caught would be safe for eating, or if instead the Schulykill is strictly a “catch and release” zone.

I thought about asking these men those questions, wrestling with my own desire not to be rude or intrusive. (This is probably why I’m just an amateur blogger rather than a profesisonal journalist.) It turned out to be a moot point—these two men loaded their gear into the trunk of a small red sedan and were pulling out of their parallel parking space before I got within distance to ask anything of anyone.
