Some Good Soul

This past Friday two friends treated me to a birthday lunch at Ms. Tootsie’s, a soul food cafe located at 13th and South. I had been to Ms. Tootsie’s once before and found the food to be authentic and delicious, so couldn’t wait to go again. I reviewed the menu online the day before, and was salivating at the thought of the artery-clogging goodness. Ribs or catfish? I wasn’t sure.

At lunch I finally decided on the fried catfish, with my sides being collard greens and macaroni and cheese. As my friend Steve would say, the food was so good it made you wanna slap your mama.

I had REALLY been looking forward to the sweet potato cheesecake, only to find out it wasn’t available. So, I was instead forced to scarf down the coconut cake, which was quite nice.

If you haven’t been to Ms. Tootsie’s and want to enjoy some good soul food, you must go. I think you will find the cozy space and comforting food to be delightful
