Trading Places on Comedy Central
I’ve seen Trading Places (you know, the movie with Eddie Murphy, Dan Akroyd and Jamie Lee Curtis) more times than I can count. This afternoon, while scrolling through the digital cable listings guide looking for something to watch, I noticed that Trading Places was about two minutes from beginning. As switched over, and as I watched the opening sequence, I realized that I had never seen it from the very start. The opening credits play over a montage of Philadelphia scenes that evoke Philly from the days when it legitimately earned the name “Filthadelphia.” It’s dirty and gritty, and for some perverse reason, I loved seeing it that way. So, if you haven’t seen the movie, I would recommend checking it out, and watching it from the opening, as it is a veritible time capsule of Philadelphia past.
