The School Of The Future

I was on my way to work this morning and had the opportunity to drive past the School Of The Future. The school will open today. It has said to be the forefront of technology in the classroom. I wish this was around when I was in high school. This state of the line facility has a performance arts venue and computerized classrooms. It is probably the best public high school in the city. I attended Overbrook High School and it looked nothing like that. Hopefully the School District will take good care of the school and we will not have to see it on the news for violating inspection codes as the others have. Check out the website link below for more info.

hmm. thats interesting. when i was a student teacher in college, i worked at this place called the act academy in mckinney texas, a wealthy suburb of dallas. it was originally funded and set up by the us dept of education as a demonstration school. it was very small, in a historic house downtown, with grades k-12 all in the same bldg. there was collaborative learning, it was paperless save for arts, each student was given a laptop and it was one of the first places i’d ever seen a wireless network. must’ve been 10 or 11 years ago now. i thought it was fascinatingly progressive.
