Restaurant Review: Tria

I read about the forthcoming Tria Cafe when I first moved to Philadelphia a few years ago. It sounded like such a great idea, and so delicious. I planned to go as soon as it opened and then lacked the dollars and nearly forgot. Then, over the weekend, I had some relatives in from out of town and we drove past it. I described the place and it was heartily agreed upon as a dinner destination.

Oh, wow. First of all, you must love cheese and either wine or beer to enjoy this experience. Those are their three items of choice and them do them oh so well. The lists can be quite overwhelming but the staff is very friendly and willing to help you pair things. The best cheese I had was a sechon de pays. Incredible.

I recommend ordering one small plate and one cheese as the cheeses come with complimentary sauces or pastes and plenty of bread. Everything everyone in my party had was delicious, beers and wines included.

The only drawback is the relatively small size. The place fills up fast and outdoor tables are in high demand. It’s likely best for smaller groups or couples.

I’ve only been to Tria once, but I loved it. I definitely need to head back with my honey to sample more of their cheeses
