Keg Party or World Cafe Live?

I attended a show of local musicians Cassandre Xavier and Jack Myers at the Upstairs of the World Cafe last night. I was very happy that I made it for some of happy hour (until 7.30 rather than 7. Not great, but not bad). I ordered my $3 glass of wine, while my husband ordered a beer that came in a plastic cup. I figured the plastic cup was just something used during the happy hour. Then a friend joined us well after the happy hour’s end and ordered a long island iced tea. DEFINITELY not a drink for a plastic cup, right? Wrong! Ultimately, as long as you’re getting the drink all is well in the universe, but I have to say that I was and still am perplexed by the plastic cups. There are certain things about adulthood that I rather enjoy, having my drinks served in an actual glass among them.

Could it have been a drink special? Was the place packed and they ran out of cups (it’s happened)? I would rather take a Long Island Iced Tea in a nice big red Solo cup than a dainty little glass any day, age be damned.

That was the perplexing thing…it wasn’t a drink special, and it was busy but not crazy. Who knows, as long as the drinks and the acts are good and the drinks decent I’ll still be going.

that is odd. when i was there for happy hour they did the beers in bottles. i heard there was an almost-fight there on wednesday, though. something about bike messengers and a skater.
