Flyers Update

I haven’t posted an update in a while (so much for the weekly one I wanted to do) but there hasn’t been a whole lot going on in Flyers news recently but I do have five tidbits of info for you today. A sixth piece of news screams for it’s own post so it shall have it.

· The Flyers open their season on October 5th against the Sidney Crosby led Penguins in Pittsburgh.
· Gary Dornhoefer has retired from the broadcast booth, and will be taking on a Flyers Hockey Ambassador role with the club. Keith Jones will replace him as the color commentator on local broadcasts.
· The Wachovia Center is going to install a giant new high-tech LED scoreboard.
· All 82 of the Flyers games will be televised locally but only 14 will be available on free TV.
· The Flyers acquired winger Kyle Calder from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for center and fan favorite Michael Handzus.
