XPN All About the Music Festival Rained Out today

Philly was hit today by some pretty torrential rainstorms. At about 4 pm, the view from my window was of nothing but driving water, punctuated by lightening bolts and the cracking of thunder. The XPN All About the Music Festival, which was happening across the river in Camden, became a sodden, sloppy mess and had to be cancelled. XPN worked quickly and got many of the artists who were supposed to perform at the Festival over to the World Cafe Live stage in University City within a couple of hours, and the show went on.

I had tickets to go today, and was deterred by the rain, but when I heard that the show was back on World Cafe Live, I made my way over there with a friend. We expected the place to be packed, but a volunteer at the door said no more than about 400 people showed up (they were going to close the doors after 700 people). For those of you who decided to stay home, it was absolutely your loss. The set Josh Ritter put on was fantastic, and Steve Wynn and the Miracle 3 rocked the place (especially their female drummer, she was awesome). The only bummer of the night is that Citizen Cope bowed out of the show. I would have loved to have seen him in the intimacy of the World Cafe Live.

The forcast tomorrow is for sunny skies and 85 degrees, so the show will continue back at Wiggins Park. Jim James of My Morning Jacket, who was scheduled to play today, will be going on at 2:50 pm tomorrow. Should be an excellent day.

I should have checked the news! I was so upset about all the rain that I never even thought to look for updates on the show, and I completely missed out :(
