Monkey Knife Fight

glow beerIf you’re into light, refreshing (some would say girly) beers, The Nodding Head has a really excellent one right now called Monkey Knife Fight. It’s a blonde lager with asian flavors including lemongrass and ginger. One of my fellow patrons described it as tasting “like flowers.”

They also have surprisingly delicious food. I can personally vouch for the bistro salad, french dip and crab cake. My mouth waters just thinking about that crab cake. Oh yes, and lest I forget: the frites. Peppery french fries with a mayo based (don’t say yuck until you’ve tried it) dip. Yum.

The Nodding Head has earned somewhat of a reputation for Monk’s Café overflow, but I feel it stands quite well on its own. It’s spacious, with dark wood, and interesting seating. Some of the tables are reminiscent of church pews, while others have long cushy seats. Their non-smoking section is also fairly large, and their huge collection of bobbleheads quite unique and eye catching.

There are also large windows in the non-smoking section for storm watching. Go! Eat, drink and enjoy.

What a coincidence! I was at Nodding Head yesterday and had the exact same brew, and thought to myself that I have to get there several more times in the summer because I enjoyed it so much! Further proof that great minds think alike. ;-) Nodding Head is absolutely one of my favorite places in Philadelphia.
