The Hip-Hop Vote
Yesterday’s hip-hop summit really got my blood circulating. Although Philadelphia is a great city for fun there are a lot of issues that need to be addressed and the urban community is one of them. Growing up in Philly, I have encountered losing some of my closest relatives to violence beyond their control. I lost one of my cousins the morning of my 21st birthday because he went to visit a girl and her baby’s daddy was jealous. The hip-hop summit gave me hope again. Hope in a sense that the youth of our city will realize the importance of uplifting their community and voting. There were hundreds of young adults in attendance and that shows that they are trying to take responsibility for themselves and their surroundings. Please don’t hesitate to check out the website.
