Buy Fresh, Buy Local
Retired Philly blogger Becky used to waxed poetic about the Yards Brewery at blogger meetups. She had us so convinced as to it’s virtues, that at one point we decided to have a blogger potluck there. The potluck never materialized (although it’s never too late), but I recently found out about another opportunity to eat and drink at the Brewery. They are hosting the 4th annual Buy Fresh, Buy Local Week Kick Off event this Sunday, July 16th. Tickets are $16 in advance, and with that you get for your money is “food, beer, entertainment and donation to Buy Fresh Buy Local. We are roasting a locally and humanely raised, grass-fed pig. There will also be falafel and an array of salads for herbivores and vegans!”
The event runs from 12 noon until 4:30 pm and tickets are available online at the White Dog Cafe Foundation website. I wonder if they’ll be giving away those cool “Buy Fresh, Buy Local” bumper stickers that look like old fruit crate labels. I’ve always wanted one of those.
