Condoms in Philly Jails

On Monday, June 26th, there will be a town hall meeting at St.Lukes Church (330 S. 13th St.) at 6 pm on the accessibility of condoms. ACT UP Philadelphia, the organization that, back in 1992, initiated and won the fight for condom accessibility in public high schools, is sponsoring this forum. They’ve turned their eyes to condom accessibility in local jails and prisons this time. Inmates are having sex and ACT UP believes that those individuals should have the right to protect themselves from the risk of contracting HIV.

It’s an important topic, and one that needs support in numbers. If this is an issue that tugs at you, do the world a favor and show up.

But it’s against the rules for them to have sex in jail, other than if it’s a visit from their wife or husband right? If that’s the case then no I don’t support condoms in jail. I mean if that’s the case then we are just saying it’s OK to break the rules in here as well. There’s a reason they are in there and I’m pretty sure it isn’t to be getting it on with each other.
