Feel like getting political?
There will be a rally tomorrow at 3 pm in order to raise awareness surrounding the lack of affordable housing and the use of eminent domain in Philadelphia.
The reason for the rally is that June 23 is the one year anniversary of the Supreme Court Decision Kelo Vs. New London which determined that the state’s power of eminent domain could be used to confiscate homes and businesses for private development. Since 2001, over 5000 Philadelphia homes have been considered for eminent domain.
It will start at 1234 Market St, which is the headquarters of the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority and will continue to East Side of City Hall.
