Hovering and Helmeted

Walking home from work today, I turned onto Chestnut Street from the bridge that connects it to Market Street and to the River Path down below. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a collection of people wearing helmets, who appeared to be hovering and moving slowly above the ground on the plaza area across from the 2400 Chestnut apartment highrise. My brain immediately started racking away, trying to figure out what they were doing.

Rollerblades?

Skateboards?

As I got closer, I realized that they were all on Segways. It looked to be some sort of class or tour, because they all looked pretty uncertain on those things. As I got closer, they seemed to magically form a line and disappear around the corner, over the path that connects back up to Market Street. It was a surreal moment.
