One of Philly’s best burgers

Tuesday night, I had it confirmed for me once again that the Standard Tap serves an incredible burger. I met a group of friends there for a farewell dinner for my friend Ingrid. We’ve been to the Tap many times as a group and it seemed appropriate to make that the location of her send off. I got there late, a dinner meeting at the Unitarian church had me running behind the rest of the crew, so I didn’t get a chance to order any food for myself. But when Ingrid held her burger out and asked if I wanted a bite, I couldn’t refuse. It was a revelatory bite. There were sauteed mushrooms, onions, lettuce, tomato and cheese, in addition to the fantastically thick, medium rare burger. A burger work of art. The fries are also pretty damn terrific, and I managed to steal a couple from various plates.

I’ve been invited to a baby shower at the Tap in a couple of weeks, and I can only hope that I’ll get a chance to get one of those burgers. Yum.

They also have a good Sunday brunch. Best eggs benedict I’ve ever had.

I agree with TomKim. I once had me a double standard and LET ME TELL YOU best burger in the city. So far best burger around! My bro and I sometimes search high and low for better burgers. Nothing’s come close, so rest assured when you see someone else advertising “best burger” that you don’t need to try it and be disappointed.

Me and big bro already were.

Hm, according to Phillymag.com, their bar food is supposedly great, so it MUST be the best burger in Philly:
