Opus Day, Eh?

I’ll admit to doing a teeny-weeny bit of multitasking yesterday morning when my favorite newsanchor did a live webchat following up on the story he did on Wednesday’s 11’o’clock news about Opus Dei and the portrayal of that organization in The Da Vinci Code, both book and movie.

The questions were supposed to be about Opus Dei, the book, the movie, and the news story. But the one comment that made me snort up my midmorning yogurt from laughing was O’Donnell’s reply to a question about how well he gets along with co-anchor Tamala Edwards:

The first time I met Tamala Edwards was in late 2004, before the morning team was set. We sat down to do an audition together, and I started going off on a tangent during one of my reads (as I sometimes do), and started talking about how a truck carrying chickens tipped over, and if only it happened a week ago when another truck carrying bread tipped over, then you would have had chicken sandwiches all over the place…she looked over at me, and started thinking “who IS this guy?” It has been a relationship of love and respect ever since.

Seriously. Yogurt almost up my nose. Not pretty, but very very funny.
