First Person Festival

Looking at the City Paper online this morning (trolling for something to write about here, actually) I spotted an interesting ad and gave it a click. The tag line that caught my eye was “ever told a little white lie?’ The ad was for the First Person Festival that is being put on First Person Arts here in Philly from June 1st through the 11th. They said that it is “the only festival of its kind dedicated to presenting multi-disciplinary works-of-art based on authentic, real-life experiences.” This is the third year for this festival, and I’m thinking hard to try to remember if I heard anything about it over the last couple years and am drawing a blank. It sounds kind of cool, although there aren’t many details available right now, as the website has a lot of coming soon messages on it. Something to keep an eye out for!

I did it last year. I heard about it on WHYY and saw stuff in the PW, actually. It’s a good little fest nestled between some of the bigger, louder fests.

Thanks to Marisa for the interest in the First Person Festival of Memoir and Documentary Art. The Festival info is now on our website at or you can call us at 267/402-2055 to request a brochure. This year’s theme is Secrets & Lies and we found a lot of both to examine, as you might guess!

Btw, did you know there are 131 words in the English language for lying? If you’ve told one lately and want to get it off your chest, post it on our liars blog at
