Gourmet dining on N. Broad?
Local chef, Marc Vetri, is planning to open a swanky second restaurant sometime in the late fall, at 640 N. Broad. This is between Spring Garden and Fairmount, just south of where Ridge Ave. angularly bisects Broad Street.
Is anyone else a little amazed by this? I know that that neighborhood is improving, but Broad St. remains kind of deserted and sketchy in that area. I will either close rapidly, or will be the first marker of an improving N. Broad.

My girl and I just moved into N. Broad (Packard Building) and I must say that this area has been as pleasent as any I have lived in (Manayunk, East Falls, etc. Many may still consider it shady, but we walked up to Spring Garden, Callowhill, Fairmount and were only approached by a begger once (try that on a late night in CC). There is a Spaghetti Warehouse up this way, great pizza, grocers, and ice cream, and many many new lofts and condos beeing built. I event think that beautiful building at the Ridge/Broad angle is being redone. I heard Temple is really pushing this too so that they get ‘connected’ to downtown. The best would be to see that old hotel up by the Ridge/Broad angle reinvented into condos. Come on up people, there are a lot of things up here now!
