Dunphy to Replace Chaney as Temple Coach

Fran Dunphy will replace Hall-of-Fame coach John Chaney as the coach of the Temple Owls men’s basketball team, who retired recently. Dunphy who has spent the last 17 years with the Penn Quakers will try to bring his winning consistency to the Owls. Dunphy coached Penn to Ivy League dominance with league championships in 10 of the last 14 seasons. He will have huge shoes to fill though. Chaney brought the owls to 17 NCAA tourney appearances but has slipped in the last five years with appearances in only the NIT. Dunphy’s goal is simple; return the Owls to the national spotlight.
