Flyers Goaltender Antero Niitymaki of Finland was awarded the Silver Medal in Ice Hockey this morning at the Olympics but the Gold goes to his Flyers teammate and Swedish rival Peter Forsberg. Sweden defeated Finland 3-2 in a thrilling ice battle that ends a great tournament that had many surprising results. One of those being that Canada did not medal at all in the tournament and the United States was never really considered a threat. Instead Sweden, Finland and the Czech Republic take home the hardware. Niitymaki played excellent during the tournament and should go home to the Flyers as the established number one goaltender on the team. Forsberg meanwhile looks healthy and should return to the Flyers line-up this week. Forsberg will be much needed as Simon Gagne was injured during the tournament and will most likely miss two weeks.
