I missed this, but then again I haven’t been around much recently. The Flyers named Derian Hatcher interim captain due to Keith Primeau’s uncertain status. Primeau has missed the past 42 games with a concussion and his return this season, or ever, is still a major question. With the team floundering around, 3-5-2 in their last ten, upper management decided that the team needed some locker room direction. Hatcher served as captain of the Dallas Stars under current Flyers coach Ken Hitchcock from 1995-2002. Sami Kapanen and Simon Gagne were named permanent assistant captains.
