Flyers Take on Surging Hurricanes

Carolina comes to town and they are on a tear through the top teams in the NHL. Having recently beat Detroit and Nashville; the Canes come into Philadelphia tonight looking to knock off another top tier team. They are currently one point behind the Ottawa Senators for the overall top spot in the Eastern Conference. Carolina has been surging up the standings despite leading scorer Eric Staal going scoreless in eight games. Staal got out of his scoring slump with a hat trick and an assist in Carolina’s previous game.
The Flyers on the other hand are looking to get back on the winning track after losing their last two games. The team will also be looking for more scoring out of their second and third lines as the Forsberg-Gagne-Knuble line is contributing the majority of the goals. While team captain Keith Primeau is still no closer to returning to the line-up, Flyers General manager, Bob Clarke, has stated he may leave Primeau on the roster for the rest of the regular season in an effort to let him get healthy for the playoffs. With no indication that Primeau will be healthy in time for the playoffs though, the Flyers may try and land veteran center Doug Weight at the trade deadline.
