Everyone morning when I get to work, I spend the first half hour or so at my desk surfing blogs. I realize that according to my boss this isn’t the best use of my time, but I don’t feel like I can effectively start my day until I’ve seen what Dan Rubin and Dooce (to name a couple of my daily stops) have had to say in the last 24 hours. One guiltly blog pleasure is SnarkSpot, the blog of Philly resident and leading chicklit author, Jennifer Weiner. I love Jen’s books and have really enjoyed seeing her career succeed so wildly. In fact, she’s one of the people I would like to be when I grow up.

On my stop at her blog today, I saw this announcement on her “Jen on tour” sidebar, that gave me pause.

Jennifer Weiner, Joyce Carol Oates and Kurt Vonnegut (not a typo)

Somehow the coupling of Jennifer Weiner with Joyce Carol Oates and Kurt Vonnegut just doesn’t seem right. She included the “not a typo” comment, so even she sees the disconnect there. I’d be really interested in talking to the person who put that panel together. They’re either a genius or a real wackjob.
